  • What age were you when you learnt to ski and where was this?

I learnet to ski when I was seventeen years old while in 5th year at school. My first skiing experience was at the artificial ski slope at Kilternan, Co. Dublin, Ireland.


  • What is your favorite ski resort and why?

The resorts of the Chamonix Valley are my favorite because they offer a fantastic variety of big mountain skiing combined with some of the best views in the world.


  • Describe your perfect day out skiing in the mountains

Great snow, groomed on piste, untouched off piste, quiet slopes, being with friends and having a nice lunch!


  • What is your greatest achievement in skiing to date?

Making a career out of my hobby and getting to live in one of the best places on the planet.


  • What languages do you speak and to what level?

English and a little French


  • What is your favorite ski run?

Any run thats quiet and you can really let your skis do the work!


  • What are you looking forwards to most at the forthcoming Interski Congress in Ushuaia, Argentina?

It will be my first time ever to the southern hemisphere and I can think of no better place to go than Argentina combined with my love and passion for skiing.


  • Have you taught any famous celebrities and if so who?

I was lucky enough to teach Rick Mayall (The Young Ones and Blackadder) and his family for a week in Meribel, France back in around 2002. He sadly died in June 2014.


  •  What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of making a career in snowsports teaching?

If quality of life is more important to you than money then go for it but be prepared to to put in your time teaching all ages and abilities for low wages.


  •  Apart from skiing what other sports do you regularly participate in?

Tennis, hill walking and mountain biking (trail cycling)


  •  Who is you skiing idol and why?

Pirmin Zurbriggen one of the best ski racers of all time. I grew up watching him on the likes of Ski Sunday on the BBC.


  •  In terms of your skiing what will you be doing 10 years from now?

Teaching people to ski and enjoy being in the mountains.


  •  What is your favorite quote and who wrote it?
