Last weekend we had our final team training session on snow in Cervinia-Zermatt before the Interski Congress in Ushuaia, Argentina. 3 of the 6 team members were present; Vittorio Caffi, Shona Tate and myself.
Saturday was unfortunately closed due to the storm and heavy rain the night before but we has a great session on the Sunday with good weather.
We are all skiing on Head World Cup Rebels i.SL RD skis with the Head Raptor boots and for some of us it was the first time using the kit! But it passed the test and will be great in Argentina.
Cervinia-Zermatt proved a great venue for a team meeting and is a very good location for summer skiing. The Warren Smith Ski Academy now run IASI summer gap courses based in Cervinia and I in fact stayed on for a couple of days after the training to run an Alpine Level 1 assessment for WSSA Gap programme.
Prior to our Cervinia training we had the whole team together in June at the Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead for an initial training session. We have now put a little video edit together featuring skiing and photos from both training sessions and introducing each of the Irish delegation.
We are now very much looking forward to Argentina where we will gather great information from all those countries present and share what Irish skiing and IASI are all about with the other nations.
